Help

This page contains the following information to assist users of this site:

Acrobat Reader and PDF Files

Some of the documents on this site are available in Adobe's portable document format (PDF). This is a universal file format that allows you to read, print or download an on-line document while maintaining the fonts, graphics and general layout of that document. To view a PDF document, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system.

To view a PDF document on-line, click on the underlined link to the document. To return to this site once you have finished viewing the document, click the button on your browser.

To download a PDF document to your workstation, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the underlined link to the document, and select the Save Link As option (for Netscape users) or the Save Target As option (for Internet Explorer users) from the drop-down menu.
  2. In the Save As dialog, select a location for the PDF file and click Save.
  3. The file will be saved to the location you have chosen.

Once you have downloaded the PDF file, you can then use Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it.

Downloading Graphics Files

The graphics files available for download on this site are in a variety of industry-standard formats. Unless you have the appropriate software for viewing and manipulating these files, you will not be able to view them on-screen, but you will still be able to download them to your workstation.

To download graphics files to your workstation, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the underlined link to the graphics file, and select the Save Link As option (for Netscape users) or the Save Target As option (for Internet Explorer users) from the drop-down menu.
  2. In the Save As dialog, select a location for the graphics file and click Save.
  3. The file will be saved to the location you have chosen.
  • Picture Files (.gif, .jpg, .tiff):
These image files (logos, graphics) are typically used in the creation of other documents (e.g. newsletter, brochure, letterhead, websites). They can usually be easily with common word processing software such as WordPerfect and Word. To do this, you will need to familiarize yourself with basic techniques of picture files insertion.
  • Graphic Image Files (.eps):
These files are normally of higher quality and, with the use of specialized drawing software, allow for the manipulation and editing of the graphics and images. Software programs required to view and edit these images are usually complex and expensive. It is recommended that you recruit the help of an experienced graphic designer if you wish to use these files.
