Community Adjustment Fund
The Community Adjustment Fund (CAF), a national, two-year, $1-billion economic stimulus measure announced in 2009 as part of the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, helped to minimize the impact of the global economic downturn by creating immediate employment opportunities for Canadians.
Administered in Northern Ontario by FedNor, CAF assisted communities, particularly those with a reliance on resource-based industries and the manufacturing sector, to adjust and restructure their economy.
On August 24, 2009, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister for FedNor, announced a CAF investment of up to $31.4 million in support of 55 projects across Northern Ontario.
